Kitchen countertops, one of the major highlights of your house...

www.stonemasters.ca

The Market is saturated with all kinds of material, everyone is trying to sell what they have their hands on. Less maintenance, low maintenance, no maintenance, high maintenance, radon/non-radon, natural, manmade, less expensive, more expensive, sky rocketed, heat resistant, scratch resistant, stains, doesn't stain and we can extend the list forever...........................................................................

Let us tell you briefly what we know:

Granite and Quartz are the two major materials that are widely used currently in the market.

1,000 + color options, Granite is still the number one material of consumers' choice. Proven performance, durability and relatively reasonable prices still make the granite winner. Relax; don't fall for all you hear from different sales people who has more interest in what the company sells that they work for rather than providing you with the proper information. Choose your granite color, place your order with a reputable company that has favorable customer reviews and get ready to enjoy your new solid surface with friends and family members in the room that you pretty much spend the most time when you are at home.
Sealer issue, yes granite needs to be taken care of. Depending on the quality of the sealer you are willing to pay for needs to be resealed every 3-4 years or less and a very simple process unlike what you have heard from different sales people that it is a nightmare etc. Plug your ears; it is something that you'll do it on your own in five minutes.
Quartz is fairly new in the market compared to granite. Stain proof? No it does stain. It is stain resistant; you still need to wipe what you spill on it. Is it heat proof?, No it is heat resistant. Not recommended to take a pot straight off the cook top and place it on your brand new quartz countertop. C'mon, don't be lazy just place something underneath. Piece of mind. Doesn't need to be sealed? True. But you still need to wipe off your spills. Darn thing a little on the pricey side. Yes, the manufacturers are trying to make the most out of this fairly new material before the heavy competition kicks in. So prepare your wallet to sweat. The second slab issue. Yes, since the material is not as common as the granite that little bit of extra piece needed to complete the project is very difficult to find unlike granite. So if not the whole second slab be prepared to be charged for a good portion of the second slab.
