Fierce competition in the market forces vendors to cheat on the quality to lower the price of the product which most of the end users are unaware of. In the GTA market top quality 18"x18" filled and honed travertine tile should be in the $ 6-7 / Sqft. range, mid range quality product should vary in the $ 3-5 / Sqft. range and poor quality products is sold for $ 3 / Sqft. or less considering all of the material is imported by the vendor you are dealing with to avoid the price increases through middle companies. If someone is trying to convince you for a product that doesn't fall into this pricing bracket, stop there and question elsewhere before you purchase anything.
Currently Turkey is the number one supplier for this material. Having our own production facilities in Turkey we manufacture a good amount of our own imported products and the rest is sourced out from reliable companies that care about the products that they serve to their customers.
